Entrepreneurship at LSA
In the fall of 2017, Lutheran South Academy became the first private school in the city of Houston, and one of the first schools in the state of Texas, to launch the INCubatoredu Program: a program that offers students an authentic entrepreneurship experience. Throughout the year-long course, students learn how to develop an evolving business model canvas, gain valuable market feedback through the development of a minimum viable product, and re-iterate all of these elements to improve their maturing business plan. Students are instructed by a team of volunteer coaches and mentors, all of which are real entrepreneurs from the local community, as well as the classroom teacher, Mr. Aaron Schneider. Under the guidance of the classroom teacher, the coaches "co-teach" with Mr. Schneider and share authentic business expertise giving students real-world context and real world advice.
Each school year culminates in a "Pitch Night" as students present their business concepts to a panel of "Shark Tank" investors, as well as parents, friends, fellow students, and potential investors from the surrounding communities. The top LSA business group from Pitch Night then has the opportunity to enter into the National INCubatoredu Pitch Competition, held in Chicago each summer, where winners are awarded investment funding for start-up businesses.

Building Real Businesses: The INCubatoredu Program Format
INCubatoredu is a full-year course offering an authentic entrepreneurship experience as students develop their own product or service startup.
Problem-Solution Identification | Student teams explore, pivot, iterate and develop resilience as they work to solve problems they care about.
Customer and Idea Exploration | Real entrepreneurs and industry experts serve as volunteer coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the process of idea validation.
Pitch for Real Funding | Student teams pitch to gain investment funds in a final shark-tank style pitch event.
